Nibble: Tasty Westchester Food Events for Week of January 12-19
Fans of the New Rochelle flagship of Smokehouse Tailgate and Grill need not fret, as the North Ave. location has closed in order to move across the street in the midst of the housing boom downtown. You can still order from the Mamaroneck location, which will be serving the NewRo area until the new, bigger location opens some time this spring or summer in the upcoming Rockwell luxury apartment development. Be sure to check out Smokehouse’s website and social media for more updates.
Diner Brew Co., the Mount Vernon-based cidery, opened its taproom and retail space in December at 40 Division Street in New Rochelle. Expect great tunes, great company, some tasty brews and a fun activity. Click here to reserve your spot. Please note that the $13 charge only covers entry and two drafts, and space is limited; you can choose from three stein designs at the event for an extra charge.

On Sunday, January 19, Forty North Caribbean Kitchen & Bar, located at 100 River St. in Hastings-on-Hudson, will hold a kids cooking class from 12:30 pm to 2 pm. Children ages 4 to 10 will be under the wing of Kate Sonders Solomon, learning how to make scallion pancakes and vegetable fried rice. Please note that this is not a drop-off class, with parents having the option to participate or watch from close by. Also, this is a nut-free class, while sesame oil may be used in the activity. Click here to reserve a spot for your child, and perhaps put their new skills to use for Sunday dinner later!
